Artist Information:

Dan started his career at the RMA Sandhurst, subsequently joining the East Surrey regiment.

After 14 years in the army he moved with his family to Swanage where he still lives. For nearly 23 years he was the honorary secretary of the Swanage Lifeboat. Service calls along the coast introduced him to evocative locations such as Old Harry, the Pinnacles and Kimmeridge Ledges. This has resulted in a fascination over the last few years in the 'ever changing skies, shadows and reflections' of the coastline.

His painting has been influenced by Alwyn Crawshaw, Ron Ranson and Lucy Willis and perhaps even by the genes of his Great Aunt, Alice B Giles, an Edwardian artist of some distinction. Dan works mostly in watercolours and the Gallery has a number of originals as well as a small series of limited edition prints of Old Harry Rocks, Corfe Castle and Handfast Point.
