Jon Barker was born in Yorkshire in 1950. Formerly a marketing professional, Jon is a self taught artist with a distinctive and fluid style which expresses movement, power, sensitivity and tonal balance.In particular, his City Life series has won him a growing following among art lovers and collectors.Whilst depicting the familiar landmarks of famous cities such as Paris, New York and London, these paintings remove us from the real world to a more desirable and idealist world where people tend to be more stylish, chic and classically dressed. Gracing the softly lit boulevards and bistros of trendy city night spots they invite us to join them in a society where good natured fun and romance are unhindered by the 21st century urban realities which we are all too familiar with.
