Since graduating with a top BA Hons degree from Westminster University In London in 2002, Lucy’s reputation as an artist has grown rapidly. Her paintings are shown in London and sell from galleries across the UK, including St. Ives, a favourite amongst art lovers, and she receives commissions from around the world. In recent years Lucy has become a regular exhibitor at The Chelsea Flower show and Dorset Art Week, and, as part of the BBCs Arthouse Collection, much of her work is selected for film and TV.
Lucy’s uplifting painting style is created with great subtlety and skill. She applies acrylic paint in an assured and confident manner before agitating the layers of paint to reveal motion and light in her skies. Her play on light, combined with her signature iridescence and texture, evokes shifting effects to the viewer and her work has been described as having the romantic feel of a Turner classic with a contemporary twist.
After travelling extensively throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America, Lucy was drawn back to her Jurassic coast roots. Now living and working in Lyme Regis, Dorset, Lucy draws Inspiration from the dramatic seasonal changes of the stunning coastal landscape - from the glistening frosty scenes of a Lyme Bay winter to fresh spring mornings in the rolling country side.
"I am passionate about my surroundings and walk the stunning British beaches all year round with my little dogs Delilah and Matilda. I find nothing nothing more inspirational than seeing the sun burst through after a downpour of rain. The light cascades in a rhythmic sparkle across the ground and the ocean gleams like liquid silver. It's magical!"
