Artist Information:
A love of the Dorset coastline and the sea are the main sources of inspiration for Sebastian McEwen's painting. Working mainly in oils, Sebastian's aim is to capture the power and atmosphere of the landscape. He uses light, colour and line in an expressionist manner to create vibrant paintings that convey the rugged and ever-changing cliffs and coves of the coastline.Sebastian studied under the sculptor Brit Holmsen, before completing a BA Hons degree in Fine Art at Reading University. After spending five years as a mural painter with a studio in Teesdale, he moved to Swanage and began working in art education, becoming Head of Art at Swanage Middle School. Sebastian exhibits regularly at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts in Chichester and with the Purbeck Arts Week Festival.
