Tracy McKenna
Tracy was born in Cyprus in 1971 and grew up in Lancashire.
After completing a foundation course in art and design Tracy moved to
Dorset to study at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design
graduating with a BA (Hons) in Three Dimensional Design. In the second
year of her degree studies she was awarded a High Commendation and a cash
prize from the Royal Society of Arts for her entry into the Student Design
awards, a prestigious national competition in which students are able
to showcase their work.
After graduation Tracy trained to become a teacher of art and design working
in North Yorkshire, Lancashire and Dorset. In 2003 she took a 2 year sabbatical
and travelled to SW France where she had the opportunity to paints and
exhibit her art work.
On
returning to the UK she took a teaching post at a school in the Purbeck
area where she has now decided to settle with her family. Tracy's work
is quite distinctive, almost graphical in style with an element of fun.
"I enjoy painting sea life, it's so alien, lots of weird and interesting
details to capture! I work mainly in gouache and I like to layer my work
with different media to give it another dimension."
