Ceramics
We currently stock a range of contemporary and popular ceramics including pottery from Dartington, Emma Bridgewater, ECP Designs, Greengate (Denmark) and the acclaimed potter Neil Tregear.
Neil Tregear
In
2004, the acclaimed potter, Neil Tregear, moved his studio to Niton, Isle
of Wight. His stunning body of new work is his response to the unparalleled
beauty of his new environment.
'The pot is the man, his virtues and vices are shown therein - no disguise
is possible' Bernard Leach.
From Neil's own website:
As well as increased local interest on the Island
in Neil's work, we were approached by a gallery in Swanage on the South
Coast. They had seen the blog and were very taken with the image of the
'fish vessel' that you featured. Neil is now a regular contributor to
Mulberry Tree gallery, thanks to your blog, where his pottery is very
much in demand. Neil has been asked to be one of the artists in their
Winter exhibition. With Thanks, Catherine and Neil Tregear.
Emma Bridgewater Pottery
Emma
Bridgewater's distinctive pottery is made in the Victorian factory on
Lichfield Street in Stoke-on-Trent. The Emma Bridgewater brand was launched
in 1985 and specialises in innovative modern designs.
The pottery is made from an earthenware mix that is a variant on Josiah
Wedgwood's 18th century recipe for creamware. The only pots which are
not slip cast are bowl and plate shapes, which are individually formed
on hand-operated machines. Pots are then glazed and fired, some being
fired three times.
Dartington
Dartington Pottery is eagerly sought both in its standard designs, in limited editions and individual artist's 'one-off' pieces. There are a variety of skilled artists at Dartington, producing a range of tableware and special editions.
