Stationery
Here at the Mulberry Tree we pride ourselves on selling unique gifts
and our stationery selection is no exception. We stock a range of contemporary
ranges including Dorset based Sarah Hough, Barbara Wiggins, Julie Bell,
Emma Ball and Nkuku.
Sarah Hough
Sarah creates contemporary paper goods inspired by fashion, textiles,
botanicals and the fun things in life. Her designs aim to refresh and
delight, and act as a visual aide memoire...
'I've never been any good at keeping a written diary, so I've decided
to do it through my designs instead... I can look at one of my images
and remember
exactly
how I felt at that time, friends I was influenced by, what was going on
in my life and the music I was listening to. What's even better is that
no one will ever be able to 'read it' and reveal all the embarrassing
bits - only I know those!'
Working out of her small studio in the Piddle Valley she is proud to say
that her notecards have been both designed and produced in Dorset.
Barbara Wiggins
Barbara
has always loved painting and colour and has drawn and painted passionately
since the age of eight, encouraged by artistic parents each with a great
eye for quality materials, craftsmanship, painting and drawing, and a
love of nature.
Barbara founded her business in 1983 and it is now well-established in
the UK and overseas as a supplier of innovative British handcrafted stationery
and leather products.
Originating from a fine art background, inspiration is derived from the
studio setting overlooking Deptford Creek in South East London, rich in
colour and texture with its boats, tides and wildlife.
Barbara's design approach is an imaginative combination of old and new
concepts and (mostly natural) materials - including suedes, leathers,
silks, linens and papers - with a high quality of craftsmanship to create
original, tactile and delightful products.
Julie Bell
Julie
Bell are designers and manufacturers of Die Stamped Stationery. They produce
our stationery using traditional hand engraved copper and steel dies.
All their work is carried out in their factory in England by some of the
finest craftsmen and women.
Emma Ball
Emma lives in Nottinghamshire, ideally placed as it's so central for her
trips. She loves going places- especially the British coastline, it's
so special.
At sixth form she was told by her tutor that she should drop watercolours,
and that she had no colour sense! She graduated from Nottingham Trent
University in the 90s with a degree in Graphic design - a fabulous three
years (four including her art foundation!) Please don't ask her how she
paints and what techniques she uses - she really couldn't tell you as
most of it happens - as most watercolourists will tell you 50% of it happens
by accident!
We stock a range of Emma's work including artwork, cards, notebooks and
notecards.
Nkuku
Nkuku
specialise in stylish, eco-friendly and fair trade gifts. All our products
are inspired by the traditional skills of artisans throughout Africa and
India.
The name 'Nkuku' was borrowed from a village in Zambia. They combine contemporary
designs with age-old techniques, natural materials and sustainable methods
of production to ensure each product is truly exceptional.
Their range includes journals, photoframes and glassware
