Margaret Johnson
Margaret
Johnson obtained a BA Hons in Fine Art & Sculpture at Goldsmith's
College, part of London University, 1974-1978. A post graduate course
at Exeter University followed in 1981.
After a long period in teaching in both schools and adult education she decided to develop her own ideas. A great deal of time has been spent painting in watercolours and over recent years she has explored the use of colour, texture & form with the translucency of glass with an unusual technique involving the use of straw silk fibre.
A recent trip to Japan has inspired new designs. Beautifully coloured and arranged sushi are the source of new ideas which, together with the collection of wonderful handmade papers that Margaret returned with, combine to make this truly original artwork on glass. Her current work involves using her combined techniques to produce tables,
glass panels & art on canvas for the home. Each item is unique.
