Oliver has established himself as a successful landscape artist, working exclusively in watercolour.  With Oliver's work we explore the impact of light, the weather, and the seasons and how these combine to achieve paintings that are evocative and atmospheric.

"At the most easterly extreme of Studland and Godlingston Heath, owned by the National Trust, lies Studland Bay. Still hugely popular with bucket-and-spade holiday makers it is managed superbly by the Trust, ensuring that it remains as natural and unspoilt as possible.

Behind the northern end of the Knoll Beach Studland's heathland heritage is quite evident. The nature reserve's gentle sand dunes, planted with marram grass to stop erosion, are home to indigenous heathland varieties of gorse and heather.

It was good to be in Dorset at the end of August for a change when the heather was at its most vibrant (a 3 week window at best.) Pinks and purples are not my favourite colours, and rarely find their way into my paintings, but here they inject a nice little burst of bright colour in what was a rather muted scene as the sun came up through some hazy cloud at 6.30 in the morning."
