One of a family of five sisters and a brother, Sasha Harding was brought up in and around Swanage, Dorset. Her interest in art was stimulated early, both by her surroundings and a tradition of art and music in the family. Two of Sasha's grandparents and a great aunt were artists.
Sasha took her Art A-Level at 14 and went on to become an Art Scholar at Marlborough College. From there, Sasha Harding studied at Shelley Park and then took her Art Degree at Falmouth.
Her work is well known locally and she has had several successful one-man exhibitions as well as joint exhibitions in Swanage with her sister Sophie Harding. She undertakes murals and commissions, one of her most interesting commissions being the 8-foot Crucifixion in Marlborough Chapel.
Sasha's work is very much influenced by her happy seaside childhood. She now lives and works from her studio in Cornwall where she has recently had very successful sell-out exhibitions. In fact, her work is now so much in demand that she is selling it almost as fast as the paint dries!
Painting with a limited palette of colours allows Sasha Harding to concentrate on her interest in form, which, clearly seen in her still life painting, is carried through in her depiction of coastal scenes. In these she explores the gentle tones of a beach seen under a cloudy sky. or in the reflective langour of a summer day. Her observations become more sharply drawn in bright sunlight, with clear colours and crisp accents. Sasha's sense of the absurd sparkles irrepressibly through her work but the lasting impression is one of great affection for her subject.
Sasha Harding is now considered to be one of the up-and-coming young artists of the day.
